PRIZEY Submission Guidelines
To provide the best possible user experience for everyone on PRIZEY, all giveaways and contests on PRIZEY must meet submission guidelines for both the giveaway itself and to the prize being offered.
Giveaway post requirements
These requirements apply to the post or submission form a PRIZEY listing is linking to.
Free to enter, free to win. Requiring expenditures to enter a giveaway or contest is illegal under U.S. sweepstakes law. This includes the purchases of products but also required charitable donations and asking winners to pay for shipping to receive a prize. PRIZEY also does not accept listings requiring entrants to sign up for services that will end in an automatic charge if not terminated by a specified date.
No sales pressure. PRIZEY does not list giveaways bully or attempt to persuade entrants to make a donation or purchase as a "fair play" measure for entering, even if it is not presented as a strict requirement.
Clear guidelines. Listings must clearly state how entries may be submitted and how winners will be selected. In the case of a contest, some criteria must be provided to entrants.
Non-blogging, non-spamming entry method required. Entrants must have the ability to enter your giveaway without being a blogger themselves or submitting or using the email addresses of others (i.e. "sharing with a friend"). Standard entry methods include commenting on a giveaway post, signing up for an RSS feed, tweeting a giveaway link, or signing up for a newsletter (provided the newsletter follows basic opt-out etiquette).
No contest gaming. PRIZEY does not list giveaways which attempt to affect the outcome of an online contest by requiring or encouraging entrants to select or vote for the giveaway host on another website.
Prize restrictions
These requirements apply to the prize offered in the giveaway being listed and related content submitted to PRIZEY.
No "partial" gift certificates. PRIZEY does not list giveaways for gift certificates to online shops that do not cover the cost of a representative item, plus shipping and handling, that is easily located in the company's online store. Gift cards to brick-and-mortar chains (grocery stores, department stores, etc.) are assumed to enable consumers to purchase items without any expense if they are in common denominations ($25 and up).
No e-books. Until we can figure out a way to moderate e-book submissions to limit frequency and prevent spamming, we do not list e-book giveaways. PDF-based products produced by established companies that have clear value beyond their text content (craft instructions and patterns, for example) are eligible for PRIZEY listing.
Established value. "Real-world" items (including crafts) that are not produced for sale are welcome on PRIZEY; members should estimate the value based on a similar item might modestly sell for in an online shop. Digital goods (music downloads, must have a clearly established value (i.e. a storefront offering sales and a professional appearance) to be eligible for listing on PRIZEY.
Discretion. So-called "adult" products are welcome for listing on PRIZEY, but are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may be rejected for any reason, including a basic lack of interest for the majority of PRIZEY's readership. Any photos used in PRIZEY listings should be "safe for work" by the most conservative established standards, as should the language used in listings. Blatant disregard for this requirement can lead to immediate cancellation of a member account. If in doubt, ask first (editors@prizey.net).
No clearly unsafe products. We do not accept listings for children's products designed for mouth contact (bottles, dishes, pacifiers, etc.) suspected by
ZRecs Guide research of containing BPA; for after-market car seat accessories, including car seat covers; or for other products that pose well-documented hazards, determined on a case-by-case basis.
Due to the volume of listings submissions to PRIZEY, we rely largely on readers to tell us when submissions violate these requirements, and provide a flagging feature on every post to encourage reporting of non-compliant listings. Repeated failures to observe the above guidelines can result in the cancellation of a blogger's membership in PRIZEY.
