Just Purchased the iRobot Roomba 650 Vacuum Cleaner and I Love It!

There are many different types of vacuum cleaners available for purchase. It can be difficult choosing just one, so many households have two or more. I wasn’t certain which type I wanted to purchase after my clunky old canister-style vacuum cleaner died. I wanted something smaller and more compact, as there wasn’t a lot of space in the closet.

I’d heard about robotic vacuum cleaners, such as the iRobot Roomba 650 Vacuuming Robot. I was hesitant to purchase, as I didn’t know if it would vacuum as efficiently as a regular vacuum cleaner. The price is about $350, which is also a pricy investment, but I didn’t want to buy one of those cheaper robotic vacuums, as they do little more than sweep your room. As it turned out, after I purchased and tried the iRobot Roomba 650, it turned out that I love it!

The vacuum cleaner is in the shape of a black disc. It has functions on the top so you can choose your settings. You can press the CLEAN button to do a one-time clean of the floor, or pre-schedule up to seven different cleanings each week. You can have clean floors each day of the week, without even having to lift a finger to clean the floors yourself.

The iRobot has built in sensors, so it can sense when it approaches walls, furniture, or other objects. It records the dimensions of your room, but it can also adapt, should you move furniture around, or add new furniture to the room.

The iRobot Roomba 650 has a three-stage cleaning system. As it runs along your floor, it will agitate, brush, and suction the floor of debris and particles. It can also automatically detect whether it is on hardwood, tile, laminate, or carpets and rugs. It can adjust itself according.

The iRobot will even clean under furniture and beds, places where the regular vacuum cleaner can’t even reach. I feel confident in knowing that every space of my floor will be left clean.

Other features I love about the iRobot Roomba include a function that automatically places itself back in its dock and even recharges itself, so you don’t have to remember to do it yourself.

The Roomba is quite sturdy, and weighs 11.8 pounds. It measures 13.4 x 3.6 x 13.4 inches. It’s made in China, and has a one year limited warranty. When I was reading iRobot Roomba 650 review on Clean In Style before purchasing, I discovered that it has 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon, which is exceptionally good.

Overall, I loved how simple it was to allow this iRobot to do the vacuuming for me. Its convenient functions, such as scheduling and self-charging, were great. I also liked at how well it cleaned the room. It didn’t leave any spaces uncleaned, as it was able to effectively navigate around furniture and walls. The price tag was worth it for a great robotic vacuum cleaner that does all the work for me.

The Best Award Winning Electric Razor

Panasonic ES-LV81-K Arc5 Men's Electric RazorIf you want to buy the best electric razor ever, Panasonic has won the Men’s Health Grooming Award for three year’s running. Their winning shaver is the Panasonic Arc5 men’s electric razor. Priced at around $500-depending on sale price, it truly offers the best shaving experience, but it’s worth it. If you can pick one up for sale at around $300, you are truly getting a bargain.

Panasonic has created some innovative technology that is built inside this men’s razor. This tech allows you to save time in the morning. A built-in sensor can sense beard thickness and adjust the speed accordingly. It has patented multi-arc foils that allow the electric razor to glide smoothly over the face, skin, jaw, and neck. These foils are flexible and they can capture, hold, and cut the shortest or the longest hairs on your face. They also work effectively on hairs that lie flat against the skin. They’ll gently raise them up, and then clip them off. They will also effectively tackle hairs that are lying in all different directions, which can be problematic for cheaper electric razors.

So why is the Arc5 probably the best electric razor? The Arc5 is available in an attractive, but sleek, black and dark grey finish. Gentle grooves in the casing will allow you to grip the handle comfortably, without dropping it when it’s wet. This shaver can be used wet or dry. The foils on the razor move in a circular motion. The razor will never tug or pull on your skin. It will get close without being irritating. Panasonic has built the razor with a motor that runs at 14,000 CPM (Cycles Per Minute). Its linear motor and multi flex pivoting head moves with the curves of your face. The Arc5 ES-LV95-S also comes with an automatic cleaning, conditioning, and charging station. Detergent packs can be inserted to help clean the razor. The cleaning system uses sonic vibrations while in cleaning mode. There is also the ES-LV65-S Arc5 for those who don’t want the cleaning and charging station. The electric razor has an illuminated display that will alert you when you need to recharge your shaver. It will also indicate the exact charge level so you will know when you need to recharge. It will show you ten stages of charging levels. It takes one hour to charge this razor up fully. Once it’s charged up it will run for forty-five minutes, plenty of time for nearly two weeks of shaving.

The Arc5 comes with a standard pop-up trimmer so you can trim sideburns, mustache, and beard. If you’re searching for the best shaving experience, and don’t mind paying a couple hundred dollars more for that privilege, the Panasonic Arc5 is sure to please. This award-winning electric and cordless razor is sure to please the most finicky of men. You’re sure be pleased with your investment after you try this award winning Arc5 electric razor for yourself.

2014 Architecture Awards

Last year the 2014 AIA International Architecture Awards were held to honour the best in Australian architecture around the world. Five winners and six commendations were chosen from a roster of 24 entries. The awards are held annually by the AIA – Australian Institute of Architects, and only the best architects are chosen to win the top awards.

Each winner is chosen for specific project categories. This year new categories included commercial, public, and residential properties. There were also interior projects and small project architecture categories for the entrants to excel in. This year several notable architectural buildings topped the list for exceeding design expectations and thinking outside the box, rather than relying on tried and true architectural design planning. Making the top of the list was Denton Corker Marshall’s unique twist on their Stonehenge Exhibition Visitor Centre building. Denton Corker Marshall won this top award in the Public Architecture category. It was a difficult challenge for DCM to come up with a building design that fit in with the natural features on the Stonehenge heritage site. A modern building wouldn’t fit with the theme. Ultimately they chose a building hidden within a framework of narrow wooden beams. They succeeded in creating a natural looking building to fit within the Stonehenge UNESCO World Heritage site, not detracting from the mysterious qualities of the large boulders and rocks that comprise Stonehenge.

Another noteworthy entry in the 2014 Architecture Awards was Parkroyal on Pickering by WOHA in Singapore. WOHA won the award for best commercial architecture. Their building on Pickering is an amazing combination of winding greenery throughout a commercial office tower. They have succeeded in creating an eco-friendly office tower, centred on the plants gobbling up the carbon dioxide wastage from the building and converting them to rich oxygenated air. Who wouldn’t want to work in this office building and look out the window to view a beautifully tended garden?
Kerry Hill Architects created beautifully designed residences in Bangkok and won the top architectural award for residences. A wide expanse of water is forefront to a building designed with metal slats to offer privacy from the huge floor to ceiling windows behind them.
ASB North Wharf won the top award for interior architecture, creating comfortable office space within modern cocoons.
Marra and Yeh Architects won the final award in the small project architecture category with their Shelter@Rainforest building. Their building was made from natural woods and long sloping roofs.
Each of these five winners went onto the National Architecture Awards last November 2014.

Architecture offers many endless possibilities in residential and commercial building design. Those finalists chosen for the awards are those who have thought outside the box, and dared to create structures that are both functional but still unique in flow and design. The 2014 Architecture Awards in Australia had many talented architecture contenders, but unfortunately there were only a few prizes to award. We’ll eagerly anticipate seeing the finalist list for the 2015 Architecture Awards coming up again this summer.

Baby Monitor from ex-Apple and Google Employees

Sproutling, a new company founded by a group of former Google and Apple employees, has designed its first gadget: the Sproutling Baby Monitor.

This company announces that this device will bring high performances to every customer and help the parents worldwide, playing the role of the best “babysitter”. Unlike the other baby monitors that you can actually buy now, this is only a concept at the moment. So if you are looking for the best baby monitor to buy right now, this is definitely not for you.

This concept promises to make the parenting experience much more pleasant. Parents will be less stressed and stop worrying about the baby’s condition all day long. Also, another goal the device plans to achieve is offering parents the chance to relax once in awhile, taking good care of the baby in their place and announcing them whenever the baby is in need of their help.

The Sproutling Baby Monitor comes in the shape of a rubber-coated bracelet which is tied around the baby’s ankle. Its design and composing fabric makes it comfortable for the baby to wear. In addition to this, the attaching strap is created to be machine-washable.

This device presents a lot of features such as measuring the baby’s heart rate and also his temperature. Moreover, the bracelet studies the baby’s movements. If the baby happens to lay on his stomach or sides, there might be a risk he will suffocate. The device will inform the parents about the baby’s motion so that they will know when to act accordingly and put the baby to lay on his back in order for him to breathe properly. The strap’s battery lasts up to 3 days and can be charged in a surprisingly small amount of time: about 3 hours.

The rubber-coated bracelet charges itself in its charging bowl, which is placed in the baby’s room. The base station (charging bowl) measures the room’s temperature and sends signals to the parent’s smartphone. If the room temperature is too cold or too hot, the parent will know when to step in and prevent an unpleasant situation for the baby. The base station also measures the noise level in the child’s room, noticing a parent if the baby is being disturbed or might wake up.  The base station sends detailed information to the parent’s smarthpone and to the company’s servers. Afterwards, the company specialists study the baby’s behavior and make a series of statistics. These statistics help a parent to assume the time when the baby will wake up from a nap, sending signals to their smartphones in real time.

In this way, the Sproutling Baby Monitor’s app installed on a parent’s smartphone will represent the child’s mood as well: happy, upset, fussy, sleeping or awake.

The data which is send to the Sproutling’s company servers is strictly confidential, without using or exposing any details regarding the baby’s behavior or health.

If the strap happens to be unattached, the app will notice the parent to tie it back on the baby’s ankle.

Parents with more children can get information about each one of them if every baby wears one bracelet on the ankle.
